Gruffyn Freshwater is a historical figure in the Melisende Dulac Series.

Biography

Gruffyn Freshwater is the first member of the Freshwater family to immigrate to Barlow County, arriving in 1866 with his wife. In time, he would exploit and mining claim at Certain Butte south of Samuelton. Several landmarks are named for him or his descendants, including Freshwater Knoll and Freshwater Hot Springs. Over the years, the Freshwater clan would achieve significant wealth and suffer devastating hardship.

The epitaph on his gravestone reads, "Dearest Husband, May I Ne’er Forget Ye."
