Towhee's Pendant is a small, glazed ceramic disc made by Towhee Freshwater in the Melisende Dulac Series.
Details
When she was in first grade, Towhee made the disc at school as an art project. It is a flat disc about two-inches in diameter and a quarter-inch thick. The disc is fired and glazed in yellow, with the letters #ilovedaddy pressed into the surface with the end of a popsicle stick. The letters are also colored with blue glaze. A small hole in the top edge allows for a leather cord to suspend the disc as a pendant.
Towhee made it as a gift to her father, who often wore it. When his body was discovered in a shallow grave at the Hensley Asylum for Infirm Ladies and Needful Girls cemetery, the presence of the pendant helped in the identification of the body.
