The Wimble Murder refers to the February 14, 2007 murder/suicide committed by Robert Wimble in Vancouver, Washington. He and his wife Maris died in the incident, while their daughters Theta and and Delta survived. (Delta would later die after hitting her head on the side of a swimming pool.)

Theta would go on to become obsessed with similar cases, and more broadly with true crime. The Freshwater Murders would be of special interest to her, as they happened on the anniversary of her own parents' deaths.
