Located in the hills aboveGaribaldi, Oregon, the Pond Family Camp is a secluded meadow in the forest originally part of a much larger plot of forest land owned by Rufus and Arabella Pond.
After the deaths of the Pond parents, Merton kept the plot for many years, but was forced to sell much of the timber land during the Depression. He retained a single acre, a spot that had long been a recreational camp for family outings and also the site of a small family grave plot. Rufus and Arabella were buried in the plot.
