Located in a north Barlow County, Kirsch Colony is a commercial dairy with a strong presence in regional markets. It is owned by the Kirsch family, of whom the youngest, Joel Kirsch, serves as general manager and eventual heir.
History
Kirsch Colony had once been a communal religious community, but it dissolved when the patriarch—the original Kirsch—died in 1920. Most of his followers dispersed, but a few, his son among them, remained and weathered on. A century later the communal farm has grown into a successful commercial dairy.
